It is very difficult to generalize the climate of India due to its large geographical area. The Indian climate comprises of a wide range of weather condition across varied topology and large geographical area. India is as large as a continent with a varying climate. You can always find a suitable place with your choice of climate.

India has three major seasons winter, summer and the monsoon. Winter months (November-March) are bright and pleasant, with snowfall in the northern hills. Summer time starts in April and ends in June. Summer time is hot in most parts of India.  Monsoon seasons starts in June and ends in September.

In Rajasthan Desert where summer temperature regularly reach 45°C and beyond. There is little rain and the monsoon winds often pass Rajasthan by leaving the prickly thorny bushes, acacia trees and other native vegetation to pick up what little dew the night bring with it. In Rajasthan annual average rainfall is less than 25 cm.

In Western Himalayas the summers are the best time, as the climate remains pleasant with slightly cold evenings and plenty of sunny days. But in winter heavy snowfall and steep fall in temperature, makes many areas in the region inaccessible.

Assam and West Bengal are extremely wet and humid. The southeastern part of the state of Meghalaya has the world's highest average annual rainfall, some 10,900 millimeters.
